Weekly Wrap-up

Your hormonal health is not just about what you put in your mouth on a daily basis.

What?!

This may sound like sacrilege coming from me. I have built my business around empowering and educating women to feel at home in their bodies through proper nutritional changes.

Hold. Let’s look at that statement once more.

“to feel at home in their bodies”

Is nutrition the sole factor in feeling at home in your body?

No.

I like to think of nutrition as the foundation that allows the walls of emotional health to hold up the roof of mental health. All are necessary, but none can hold without a strong foundation.

This is why I ask 4 questions in my weekly wrap-up that encompass all of these aspects to see what areas may need more love than others at the moment. I encourage you to do the same so you can be an active observer in the choices you make and the impact they are having!

What’s Working?

Kettle & Fire Bone Broth. I had oral surgery in my jaw this past week, and these have been a life saver. Not only are they great because I can’t eat solid food yet, but they are also incredibly healing! The collagen, chondroitin sulfate, and hyaluronic acid found in bone broth are great for helping to heal your gut lining, as well as promote bone, cartilage, and join health. Not to mention, their convenient sized cartons perfectly fill up my favorite big mug! The amount of sheer satisfaction this brings me would probably surprise you.

What’s Not Working?

Staying inside all day. From quarantine to working from home to moving to a brand new city across the country, I have found myself on many days not leaving the apartment lately.

Texas is also becoming ungodly hot and sticky, so the motivation isn’t growing.

However, getting outside is crucial to our overall health! For starters, indoor air can be 5-10 times worse than the quality of outdoor air according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). Even more so, we need sunshine! Vitamin D is crucial for our immune health, and it has been argued that it functions more as a hormone in our body based on its importance and influence in our hormonal health as well. I gotta get outside!

What Do I Need Help With?

Prioritizing myself instead of my spouse. Oof. That’s hard to even type. I really dislike that this is something I struggle with.

I am incredibly relationally focused. It is my lifeblood for being here on the earth, and it is something I cherish about myself. However, it can often get out of balance and end up being a detriment to myself when it comes to my husband.

Being a military wife means that I naturally have created a life that allows me to be flexible with my own schedule so I can be sure to spend time with him when he’s home. I’m sure you can see how this can become a problem over time.

He is good at prioritizing his needs and wants, and I find myself losing track of prioritizing what I need from myself. It is so easy for me to get trapped in a scarcity mindset of needing to focus on every moment I can spend with him. He’s home for a while now, and I need to bring my focus back into balance for myself.

What Have I Discovered?

Homemade Jello, Ya’ll! It is so easy and yummy. This was definitely another discovery due to oral surgery, but let me tell you that it is the perfect cool summery treat. All you need is grass-fed gelatin, fresh pressed juice, and a little water. Simply follow the directions from the Detoxinista here, and throw it in the fridge! I don’t bother making fancy squares because I just eat it out of a tupperware container with a spoon. Don’t judge.

What are your answers to these questions as you look back over the week? Can you relate with any of my answers?

Let’s course correct as we head into a new week, Friends.
